One of America’s most beloved candy stores, Schimpff’s Confectionery is turning 125, and you don’t want to miss their birthday celebration of sweetness…
Is there anything more endearing than a family business that can survive and thrive for 125 years? Yes, one that happens to sell candy. It’s our favorite candy store, Schimpff’s Confectionery in Jeffersonville, IN’s whopping 125th birthday, and you should help them celebrate.
If you read our article about Schimpff’s Confectionery, you already know- we love this place. A staple of downtown Jeffersonville, IN (right across the Ohio from Louisville), the place has survived the Great Depression, 2 world wars, and even a massive flood. Today, it’s still a family business with the 4th generation owners Warren and Jill Schimpff in the shop each day creating all sorts of delicious treats.

To celebrate their 125th year of business, Warren and Jill have something special planned… At 11 am on Monday, April 11, Schimpff’s Confectionery will have a public unveiling of a historic and very special 1950s Coca Cola sign.
The sign, similar to one that hung outside the store in the 70s, has been lovingly restored by the experts at the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati, OH with a special “Schimpff’s Candy” nameplate to match the sign that once hung on the candy store. The new sign will hang at 345 Spring St., an expansion to their original store.
During their birthday celebration, customers can also purchase their signature Red Hots at their original 1891 price of just 2 cents. (Minimum purchase of $2.50).
Of course, a 125 year birthday can’t be celebrated on just one day. The public is invited back on June 4th for even more festivities in conjunction with Jeff Fest, a one-day city-wide celebration in Big Four Station Park.
During this birthday party, Schimpff’s Confectionery will feature a Dixieland band and plenty of refreshments. Visitors will also be able to tour their expansion project.
If you live anywhere near Jeffersonville, IN, mark April 11th and June 4th on the calendars and come celebrate one of the oldest family-owned candy stores in America.
