See why we boldly say Green Bay’s Kavarna Coffeehouse is the best coffeeshop in all of Wisconsin…
We love coffeeshops, and you probably do too. Whenever we’re in a new city or town we typically try to find 2 things: local coffee and local beer. Well, when we stumbled into Kavarna Coffeehouse we knew we had really found something special.
At first, Kavarna felt like so many local coffeeshops… Funky art, people studying, and the aroma of fresh coffee.
It was only after we’d ordered an iced coffee and started to look around did we realize this place was way more than a coffeeshop.
Kavarna is more like the social hub of an entire city.
Why do we say this? The versatility of their space.
Most coffeeshops feel cramped and crowded, but Kavarna somehow just keeps going and going and going without ever losing its cozy feel. Finally, when in the far back of the store, the space really opens up and reveals a large area perfect for shows, art exhibits, and more.
So with so much space, it’s no wonder we saw everyone from students studying solo to business folks talking over their projects to old friends just catching up.
Of course, we don’t call a place the best unless the food & drink stack up too. Cavern serves single-origin and blended coffees from the excellent Anodyne Coffee out of Milwaukee. The food? Almost 100% from scratch with a huge selection of vegan/vegetarian options, locally sourced whenever possible from places Kavarna prides itself on knowing “on a first name basis”
While we’re confident Milwaukee has plenty of great independent coffeeshops, we have to give top nods to Kavarna, a small-city shop doing coffee in a big way.

Our time in Green Bay was part of a crazy, awesome road trip called MINI Takes the States. For 2 weeks, MINI owners rallied across the country hitting up cities like Green Bay, race tracks, and everything in between. We had the pleasure of driving both a MINI S convertible and a MINI John Cooper Works, both with 6-speed manual transmissions. It’s pretty much the most fun you’ll ever have.
The best part? The whole trip raised over 1,000,000 meals in partnership with Feeding America. Learn more here.
